Amideast: Sawiris Linkage Program

The objective of the Sawiris Linkage Program (SLP) is to assist 40 high-potential youth from Upper Egypt to qualify for and pursue undergraduate study in the U.S. The first group of 40 will include a variety of underprivileged male and female youth. Overall, it will ensure that a minimum of 30 participants are accepted to universities in the U.S. This support will be critical in enabling young Egyptians to fulfill their potential, and leveraging Egypt’s human potential to spearhead economic growth and development.

The program will be tailored to the needs of the target audience in order to achieve the following.

  • Build the capacity of low-income youth to become bilingual, multi-cultured young professionals capable of succeeding in a diverse and competitive learning environment
  • Strengthen the academic credentials of low-income youth to allow them to qualify for competitive universities in the U.S.
